Governance
An international Scientific Steering Committee (SSC) provides overall governance to CoML. Since 2000, it has guided the priorities of the program, assisted and advised the global expansion of the program, and established the specific research and outreach initiatives that make up the CoML Program. The SSC is supported by an International Secretariat, located at the Consortium for Ocean Leadership in Washington DC, which provides management and coordination for CoML.
As the Census of Marine Life enters into its final synthesis phase, a new management group has been created to handle issues specific to the products, results and activities of the end of the first Census in 2010. Please see the Synthesis page for more information.
